The one where everybody comes and nobody ends up stacked on top of anybody. Ten bedrooms, and the five king suites each have their own bath, so there's no lesser room and no conversation about who gets it. A twelve-seat cinema behind a red curtain for the evening the weather turns. Two hot tubs and two saunas pointed at the peaks, an event venue on the grounds, and on a clear winter night the northern lights come out directly over that deck.

Lodge 93

The one where you stop hearing traffic. Forty feet of the Stillwater off the back deck, a hundred yards to Stillwater Lake, seven more lakes inside five miles, and five boats already waiting on the lawn. A barrel sauna, a hot tub, and a glass geodome that lights up at dusk. Town is a short drive when you want it and completely gone when you don't.

Glacier Getaway

The one for the trip that's really about the park. It's the closest of the four to the West Entrance, which means you're at the trailhead in the good light while everyone staying in town is still driving. A hot tub aimed at the peaks you walked that morning, a game room for the afternoon the rain comes in, and two king suites so nobody draws the short straw. The dog is welcome.

Chasing Powder

The one where the car doesn't move all week. Two hundred feet from Chair 1, in the middle of the Village, so you walk to the lift in your boots and walk back when your legs are finished. A retired chairlift bench pulled up to the dinner table, a wood-burning fire worth the trouble of lighting, and a designer who reconsidered every inch of a condo that could easily have been ordinary. Après is out the back door.
